Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead and scale a high-performing, fully remote engineering team in Latin America. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership to deliver AI-enabled, scalable software solutions while modernizing legacy systems. You will act as a player-coach, mentoring engineers, shaping architecture, and ensuring the team executes against a dynamic product roadmap. This position offers the opportunity to drive innovation, implement AI-native practices, and collaborate closely with product leadership in a fast-growing SaaS environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed engineering team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning
- Provide technical direction and architectural guidance, balancing modernization of legacy systems with adoption of AI-native development practices
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions aligned with the product roadmap
- Champion the integration of AI tools and automation to increase engineering efficiency and innovation
- Contribute hands-on when needed by prototyping new ideas, resolving critical issues, and supporting engineers in complex challenges
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product and other teams to align engineering efforts with customer and business priorities
- Implement and maintain engineering best practices, documentation, and processes to ensure operational excellence and team stability
Qualifications
Proven experience leading software engineering teams as a player-coach, not just as a managerStrong architectural judgment and experience across multiple tech stacks; experience with .NET is a plusProficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks (Python, TypeScript, Go preferred) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes preferred)Demonstrated experience incorporating AI into development workflows (LLMs, RAG, copilots, automation)Comfortable with prototyping, MVP-first delivery, and rapid iteration in a fast-paced environmentStrong collaboration and communication skills, able to work as a strategic partner to product leadershipExperience managing remote teams and scaling engineering processes in SaaS or high-growth tech environmentsBenefits
