Your impact

You will safeguard Newmont’s people, assets, and operations by leading security strategies, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with global standards, including the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights.

As part of our team, you will

  • Execute site security strategies, protocols, and programs.
  • Lead and develop the on-site security team through hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee security investigations, breaches, and risk assessments.
  • Design and maintain security systems, including access control, surveillance, and monitoring.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and rapid response systems.
  • Build relationships and coordinate with police, military, and government agencies.
  • Provide security guidance and training across the site.

Prerequisites for your success in this role

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Security Management, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, Military Management, or a related field (ideal).
  • Demonstrated experience in security, law enforcement, military, or a combination, with preference for mining industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of security protocols, risk assessment, and investigation practices.
  • Experience with CCTV, surveillance, and other security technologies.
  • Skilled in crisis management, problem-solving, and decision-making under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in remote or developing country environments is an advantage.
  • Your Work Environment

  • You will operate in a dynamic mining environment, working closely with multicultural teams and external stakeholders.
  • You will work in our Cerro Negro site, in Santa Cruz Province, Argentina.
  • This position is based on a rotational work schedule of 8 days on, 6 days off (8x6 roster).
  • The role requires adaptability, resilience, and the ability to lead effectively under challenging conditions.
